History
The Apostolic Christian Church of America grew out of the teachings of the Swiss pastor Samuel Froehlich. The first church of our faith in America was established in 1847 by an elder named Benedict Weyeneth in Croghan, New York. Weyeneth was sent by Froelich to resolve some questions raised by two Mennonite Bishops, Rev. Rudolph Virkler and Rev. Joseph Farney. The Croghan church was established under the name of the Evangelical Baptist church with Joseph Virkler serving as the first elder. In 1859 the Naumburg church was established also under the Evangelical Baptist name.
For many years, these two congregations assembled in the churches built in 1866 (Croghan) and 1891 (Naumburg) with renovations happening as needed over the years. Due to declining membership, the churches were combined and incorporated in 1991 under the new name of the Croghan-Naumburg Apostolic Christian Church of America with services only being held at the Croghan church. This name change was to come in line with the national church as they carried the Apostolic Christian Church name. There are two cemeteries, one in Croghan and one in Naumburg, that are managed by the church.
Current leadership is Counseling Elder Todd Graf (Akron, OH), Paul Virkler, Neil Stoller, and Duane Farney. These are the brothers that serve on the pulpit but everyone may take part in the ministry by praying for the message that is brought forth.
